Age 4-9, 44 pages. size 25.30 cmx 25.30 cm Short-listed for best books of the year in Norfolk, 2019. ‘The Winter Wassail’ is based on the ancient medieval practice of wassailing, which marked the celebration of the winter solstice.  In the story, the children and their forest friends make merry to wake up Old Magick and bless the health of the forest at midwinter’s first full moon.  Faced with the blight of a poorly pine tree whose health would affect the health of all others, Matilda and Finbar resolve to keep calm and work in harmony with the forest creatures to save the pine tree and their forest.  The intricate illustrations and the use of Tudor costume are designed to reflect a traditional, wintry fairytale ambience.
