Hector's House Residents are a local cat rescue in Devon, they work predominantly with strays that cannot easily be housed and because of this most charities cannot give these cats the help they so desperately need.

This is where Hectors House steps in and they do everything they can for these poor cats.

 

They come into the shelter in most cases in a bad way, they are starving, emaciated, injured or in poor condition from fights (as is the case with roaming un-neutered males). Recently they have seen a huge influx of pregnant feral mums and babies (HHR have had well over 200 kittens and some of their mum’s this year alone).

 

Some cats are involved in Road Traffic Accidents and they are a mess, suffering from their injuries and just the lack of basic needs, but Hectors House Residents will not turn them away! No matter their condition, they will strive to provide them with the care they need.

Then there are those who come in unwell with things like flu or underlined medical conditions like FIV. Then there are those with illnesses that sadly cannot be treated but, HHR will not see them suffer - they will do whatever is needed in that instance, the needs of the cat are paramount and they will always put the cat first no matter what the cost.

They pay 1,000's upon 1,000's of pounds in vet treatments, operations, and medications, they Neuter, vaccinate, chip and rehabilitate the cats, finding them loving homes or placing them with one of their foster carers (while in foster care HHR continues to provide for them)

 

The Cat here is called Lazarus he was a stray found living in some woods. He was involved in an RTA it’s not known exactly how long he suffered in this horrific state. He had a broken jaw and other wounds which were infested with maggots, and damage to the eye socket and he was completely emaciated

Lazarus was in an awful state. His treatment cost £,1000’s of pounds but, not only that he needed around-the-clock care due to his injuries he also needed to be tube fed. He was placed in the care of a volunteer who is a retired nurse, she did an awesome job with him and Hector's House provided for all of his care.

When Lazarus was discovered, despite his injuries, and the heart-breaking lack of love and care he so desperately craved and needed, he was a gentle loving boy, so affectionate, no doubt relieved to have finally been found and given sanctuary.

He thrived and was rehabilitated and his beautiful loving character remained. He was rehomed and just look how beautiful and settled he is now.

 

Our team volunteers with Hector's House, so this is a cause that's very close to our hearts.

 

They are not a government-funded charity and so, they rely on the support from their supporters, their volunteers, their fundraisers and fundraisers of the public and other ways and means - Whether it’s the kind donations of food or monetary contributions from the public or support from local and surrounding businesses.

 

Wherever/ whatever else they can do to raise funds they work tirelessly trying to support these cats and Hectors House Residence is so grateful for every bit of support that is kindly given to them.
